Hyper regulation leads to sole use.

As with any dual use technology, genomics can be used to save or enslave the world. As the lab leak hypothesis sharpens, there will be calls to regulate virology like nuclear energy. On the surface this seems rational, however hyper-regulation of the nuclear energy sector led to single use. We have more warheads than any rational market participant would build yet we have no clean energy.

Hyper-regulation pushed the private sector out of the market and left the technology in the unaccountable class of Fiat Science. Further this polarity and all the research will only be visible through redacted FOIA documents.

The trouble we face today, is this very class of scientists seem to be responsible for funding the research that led to the leak. Escalated regulation would give these folks an exclusive on the technology. Fiat will always prioritize bioweapons over biofuels. In fact DARPA was known to collaborate with Fauci to run their controversial work through a human health agenda. Working on a cure for a potential bioweapon is much easier to sell than working on the weapon itself… and of course you need to make a few potential weapons to be prepared with vaccines.

I don’t know the solution to this conundrum.

I suspect, the best regulation we could aim for is to break the conflicts of interest that exist at NIH. NIH having vested interests in the vaccine patents has lead to policy that favors vaccines with negative VE at extreme cost. The repurposed drugs are cheaper and more effective with far fewer unknowns and the vax is even being coerced into children who reap no benefit yet take on substantial risks.

Part of the visceral denial of the lab leak is likely reflective of the corrosive optics of funding the leak while raking in royalty on the vaccine. The French private sector also funded the Wuhan lab and was quick to capitalize on COVID-19 testing. It’s very unlikely the regulators we have on the covid gravy train are going to police these types of conflicts from their glass house.

If the regulators are financially vested in various private entities, they no longer can police the field. They are in fact nothing more than a camouflaged marketing arm of the industry they are supposed to regulate. Evil that is hard to perform in a free market with normal liability is laundered through the shielded class.

Simply devise a plan that enriches regulators through IP law and they can remove liability protect, implement mandates and deliver your censorship. They have the power to neuter these important corrective free market forces while blaming all the negative externalities on the ‘greedy’ private sector.

So pay close attention to the solutions they suggest. Most of their mistakes are opportunities to increase budgets. An incentive that leads to clown world.
