And to the Authors credit, their relationships with Zynerba are clearly disclosed.
The process of science is often competing financial interests angling. As long as there is disclosure that’s the best we can hope for. There is nothing wrong with that in a marker free of manipulation, politics and censorship.
I have a little story to relate. Hope it’s not too off-topic. My snowshoe Siamese cat was diagnosed with asthma in the spring. He coughs and coughs and it’s not hairballs because there’s mucus. I dust the house like a maniac. I have a air filter system. (My other cat, a big black ball of mellowness seems entirely unaffected by any rogue allergens.) The vet has washed the mucus out of my Siamese cat’s lungs, done scans, and has determined that the best way to treat his asthma is with prednisone or dexamethasone, injected. Neither of those are attractive to me considering the long term damage they could cause. So a few days ago I started him on an oral mixture of CBDA, CBG and CBN .1 ml “medium” strength combined. The coughing that had become a daily occurrence completely left immediately and there are no behavioral changes that I can see - except maybe he’s a little less high-strung. I read that CBD is anti inflammatory and can be a neurological therapy. So far so good.
The endocannabinoid system is intimately tied to the immune system and it’s not always easy to predict which cannabinoid mixtures will work in people let alone cats but there is very little risk in trying.
Predinisone on the other hand comes with lots of complications. Very powerful drug but you have to be careful weaning off of it. It can create depression, brittle bones, brittle skin and a host of other complications.
CBDA is more potent (5X) at COX-2 than CBD. There is a lot to learn about CBG as well. I grew CBG autoflowers this summer to use in my morning tea.
Also grew some triploid CBDVs from OregonCBD. They now sell 10 pack seeds to anyone online.
What’s the weight of your cat and how many mg are you using?
There are some videos of the leading experts in this field at the CannMed website that cover CBN. It’s not responsible for sleep but some other oxidized cannabinoid is that Dedi Meiri has identified.
The weight of my cat is about 11 pounds. We mixed a combination of the three types producing a strength of approximately 65 to 80 mg and the total volume made was about 2.5 ml. He gets .2 ml total per day in two, .1 mg doses 12 hours apart. So that means we made about 12 to 13 doses which comes out to 5 or 6 mg per dose. Then again the three types are different strengths as you say — and it’s hard to tell exactly what proportions of what he’s getting. It was just a shot in the dark. And I don’t know but there must be some optimal type or combination that would work best for him and his condition. But I will do some more research at the sources you mentioned. We will keep mixing the cannabinoids for him so long as it still works. I’ll keep better track of the recipe next time. Thank you!
My brother's cat had a severe cough. They give him a puff of fluticasone twice a day. They have a special adapter that fits the cat. It seems to work really well and is much preferable to oral steroids.

Very interesting.

I think I used “dose” wrong. He gets a total of 5 to 6 mg per day in two doses.

Oh cute! Kitten-sized. I’ll ask about that if the CBD starts to fail. (He’s also a bit walleyed; I think he needs glasses too.) :) thank you.
The dude abides.
